The first National Horse Show was held in Dublin on April 16-17, 1864.

The event, organised by the Royal Agricultural Society of Ireland and the Royal Dublin Society, was held in the Agricultural Hall at the RDS premises at Leinster House.

The Hall was then fitted as stables, with over 370 horses being entered.

In 1868, the RDS took over the organisation of the Show.

Over 1,500 horses now arrive annually at the Ballsbridge premises to enter the Dublin Horse Show.

Since 2002, Donohue Marquees has supplied over 100 marquees for trade stands, bars, restaurants and seating bank areas.
